How do I get my club dance listed on the STS web site ?
Fill in a form on any of the diary pages and click send. The form tells us all we need to know. |
Can I advertise my Dance Holiday on the STS web site ?
If the holiday is organised by a club then send us the details in the normal way. However the STS web site only lists holidays run by "not for profit" organisations, so if the holiday is promoted by a hotel or similar it will not be listed |
Will you list my Club's regular meetings on the STS web site ?
I no longer list regular meetings on the web site. I couldn't keep up with the workload ! |
I have only got some details ready, when can I list my event ?
Send what you have as soon as you can. As a minimum we need date, type of event and club. You can add more details as they are confirmed - see the next answer. |
How do I change the details for my club event after it is listed on the STS web site ?
There is a form on each diary page to change details of an event. Be sure to tell us which details have changed by clicking on the drop down menu on the form. If you have a lot of changes to make then by all means email them to us if that is easier for you than filling in lots of forms. Please do not resend your club list though, just tell us what to delete and what to add. You will need to tell us the date(s) of the events though ! |
I don't have access to the internet, can I send details by post ?
Yes, you can send details by post. |
What kind of events do you include on the web site?
STS includes mainly social dance events based around the English tradition - country dances, barn dances, ceilidhs, contras etc. If we are told about eg a Scottish or Irish dance it is listed but we don't actively seek them out, there are specialist web sites that list those type of events. We do not include line dancing, American Square dances, Cajun, Zydeco world music events, etc. We do not include morris instructionals and similar events |
My club is holding a social dance workshop, will you list that?
Yes.
|
My morris/rapper/appalachian club is holding a morris/rapper/appalachian workshop. Will you list that?
No, we only list social dance events like ceilidhs, barn dances, social dances etc. |
My morris/rapper/appalachian club is holding a ceilidh. Will you list that?
Yes, just send the details in the usual way. |
I have a whole season's dances to submit. Must I send a form for each one ?
No. Providing the basic information is the same - club, venue town, venue postcode, county, type of event - just send an email with this information at the top of the message and then list the dates and the bands and callers. Please do not format the information in any way - the web site and the magazine each have their own (different) house styles. if your e-mail contains fancy formatting it has to be converted into plain text for the web site. This takes time and may mean your email being left until last. DO NOT send the information as an attachment to your email. Either type or paste the details into the message. |
Can I send you my club's programme ?
You can, but attachments have a much lower priority than the submission forms or e-mails. They take longer to process. We cannot read Lotus Notes files. |
Can I email you the poster for my club's event?
You can, but attachments have a much lower priority than the submission forms or e-mails. They take longer to process. If the attachment is large it might be too big for our mailbox. Your event will be listed more quickly if you paste the information into an email We cannot read Lotus Notes files. |
How quickly will my event be listed on the web site?
The web site is usually updated weekly on a Monday so your event could be listed within a week. At busy times - eg just after the magazine is published or when the printed directory is published in January it can take a little longer. Our aim is to list events within two to three weeks. Do remember that the web site and magazine are produced in our spare time and we do have holidays, go dancing, have families so we can give no guarantees. |
Why can't I find my event using the search engine?
Have you had an email saying the event has been added ? |
What is the deadline for publishing in the magazine?
The copy date for each issue of the magazine is shown at:http://www.setandturnsingle.org.uk/copy-dates/index.html Don't leave it to the last minute to tell us about an event as the magazine might be full! |
What is the charge for listing on the STS web site ?
There is no charge for listings on the web site, or in the magazine. There are charges for advertising in the magazine. Seehttp://www.setandturnsingle.org.uk/rates/index.htm |
Do I need to send information to both the web site and the Magazine?
No. I e-mail the web site forms onto Chris after I have included the event in the web site. Chris usually emails me information from eg adverts sent to him by post for the magazine. |
Why do I need to give the name of my club?
Every event is linked to the club organising or sponsoring it. All the contact details - phone, web site, email - are listed by club. We do it this way so that when a club contact changes we need only change one page and can be confident that the change will be reflected in all the club's events. When a club changes its name we have to change every entry for the club and there is always a chance that we miss one. When an event is produced by a band or a caller we link the event to their contact details for the same reason. |
I am not producing this event on behalf of a dance club, will you list it? Yes, you must make it clear in the "other information" box that no club is involved. In this case we will list your phone number and e-mail address as the contact. |
How will I know my event(s) have been listed
When we list your event on the web site we e-mail you asking you to check the entry. Please do check the entry and do not rely on the details pasted into the email. Its surprisingly easy to cut and paste something to the wrong date or wrong club - especially when there are 50 to 100 updates to do ! |
We have forgotten to advertise our dance with STS - what can we do?
Send us the details anyway using the contact forms.http://www.setandturnsingle.org.uk/diary/event-form.html If there is less than a week to go its unlikely that there is time to put it on the web site. You could enter very brief details on the Set and Turn Single Facebook® page: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Set-and-Turn-Single/115157828511146#!/pages/Set-and-Turn-Single/115157828511146 |
